Dominik Mysterio may have lost his Intercontinental title on the latest episode of RAW, but he has still come out winning.

The self-proclaimed ‘greatest IC champion of all-time’ lost the title he won at WrestleMania 41 to John Cena, a 17-time world champion in the dying embers of his retirement tour.

To the untrained eye it might seem like a bad look for a promising young star to lose his championship to a departing veteran, but Mysterio quite rightly doesn’t see it that way.

Mysterio shone in the spotlight with Cena

“Yeah, I mean you’ve got to know your role in the food chain. He’s the GOAT. I got the opportunity to face John Cena, and i’m forever grateful.

“He may have won that night, but every other night I beat him. He’s retiring cause he knows it’s the truth. He’s ducking me,” Mysterio told Impaulsive.

Mysterio is one of the biggest babyfaces in the company right now and is the current AAA heavyweight champion.

John Cena finally completes the set

The 28-year-old was one of the most hated heels in the business. But ever since WrestleMania this year, the son of the legendary Rey Mysterio has turned a corner and is now one of the most beloved talents today.

Having one of Cena’s last matches will age very well for him. One has to imagine that Mysterio will factor into the world title picture over the course of the next year.
