MJF hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since he lost the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship to Mistico at the CMLL Aniversario and a Tables N’ Tacts match to Mark Briscoe at AEW All Out.

Following the huge success of his role in Happy Gilmore 2, the 29-year-old is finding more opportunities in Hollywood.

It was fairly common knowledge that MJF has been absent from AEW programming to film Violent Night 2.

MJF starred as one of Adam Sandler’s children in Happy Gilmore 2

With filming reportedly wrapped, the former world champion had been expected to return in December but has not yet appeared.

However, according to Wrestlevotes Live on Fightful Select reports that MJF was factored into plans for AEW Worlds End later this month, and has been dating back to the week of Thanksgiving.

Even though MJF has been off-screen, he has plenty of storyline going on in the background.

MJF has failed to recapture the AEW title thus far in 2025

On last week’s episode of ‘Dynamite, AEW announced the return of the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

MJF is the only man to have ever won the ring since it’s inception in 2019.

AEW wrestlers will compete in a Battle Royal set for “Holiday Bash” next week, with the two finalists then fighting for the ring at “Dynamite on 34th Street” on Christmas Eve.

It’s hard to imagine MJF not being involved whether he wins it or not.

Apart from keeping his historic run going, MJF would have more motivation to capture the ring than usual this year.

It’s probable MJF returns to compete for the Dynamite Diamond ring once again

The winner will receive an AEW title shot at “Dynamite: Maximum Carnage” on January 14 from Phoenix, Arizona.

Strictly speaking, MJF doesn’t need to earn another title shot as he still possesses the All In Casino Gauntlet contract, which allows him to challenge for the title with a week’s notice.

He has been chasing the AEW World title all of 2025. Perhaps he will return with a bang and set his eyes on champion Samoa Joe.
