AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament Heats Up with New Tag Team Name Reveal
The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament is set to kick off on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the promotion’s history. Among the competing teams is the duo of former AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron, who have been making waves with their unique blend of skills and personalities. In a recent promo on X, the pair revealed their new tag team name, showcasing their creativity and chemistry.
Following their loss in the pre-tournament four-way tag match on last week’s AEW Dynamite, Willow and Harley acknowledged the need for a team name. “We’re still in this tournament and you gotta be in it to win it…We’re gonna need a name,” Willow said, sparking a brainstorming session with her partner. The duo tossed around ideas, with Harley referencing Willow’s reputation as “The babe with the powerbomb” and Willow highlighting Harley’s ability to “feel the wrath.”
The Birth of “Babes of Wrath”
The team’s initial suggestions, including “Feel The Babes” and “Feel The Bombs,” were ultimately rejected due to concerns about rising political tensions. However, their conversation led them to a name that combines their individual strengths: “Babes of Wrath.” This name not only reflects their personalities but also showcases their determination to make a statement in the tournament. As Willow pointed out, Harley is indeed a “babe,” and Harley noted that Willow is just as wrathful as she is, making “Babes of Wrath” a fitting moniker.

Upcoming Match Against Athena and Mercedes Mone
The Babes of Wrath are set to face a formidable opponent in their upcoming match: ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and AEW TBS Champion “12 belts” Mercedes Mone. Notably, Mone is the wrestler who dethroned Nightingale as TBS Champion at the 2024 edition of AEW Double or Nothing. The teams will compete for the chance to face either Sisters of Sin or Queen Aminata & Kris Statlander in the semi-finals, making this a crucial match in the tournament.
