Back in August, former WWE chairman Vince McMahon turned 80 years old and he threw himself a lavish bash in New York.

Speaking on his podcast Poddin’ Ain’t Easy, WWE Hall of Famer The Godfather explained who turned up, where McMahon booked out and what big names performed.

“I don’t know if you know this, but I was at Vince McMahon’s 80th birthday party this week,” Godfather said.

Vince McMahon has the head of WWE for over 40 years

“I didn’t go to the party. I was invited to the party. Let’s get that straight…Me and my wife, we got to New York Friday. It was at a place called the Bakala Hotel, beautiful hotel. Vince bought everything, paid for the hotel, just for us people.

“I’m not going to mention everybody who was there, but of course Taker was there, and Kane was there. Bradshaw was there…We had a good time.

“Cena was there. A lot of entertainers were there. Jelly Roll performed. The New York Symphony…they performed…An Italian singer…an opera singer, and if I said his name, you’d know it. He performed.

“A great two days man.”

Vince McMahon owned WWE for over 40 years before selling to TKO in 2023, but he was meant to stay on as WWE chairman as part of the sale.

Once the sexual misconduct allegations came out, which he is still battling in a civil case, TKO decided that McMahon had to go – so he retired.

Prior to that, McMahon bought WWE from his father in 1982 and then, with Hulk Hogan as his focal point, he took the wrestling company from a New York based promotion to everywhere in America and, eventually, an international brand.

He oversaw multi-billion dollar deals with Saudi Arabia and US TV networks and made plenty of money selling the company when the time came.

But his life was wrestling. It has been speculated ad nauseam that McMahon will either try and start a new promotion or somehow end up back with WWE, but at 80 and with the those allegations against him, it’s hard to see.
