Joe Hendry was become one of the most popular names in wrestling over the past years and WWE is making plans for him.

The Scot only signed a multi-year deal with the company earlier this year after finishing a three-year run with TNA.

Of course, TNA and WWE, more specifically, NXT have an ongoing partnership which meant Hendry has appeared on WWE’s developmental brand plenty.

Hendry had his first match on SmackDown on Boxing Day

But now that WWE has officially secured him, they do not have plans to leave him in NXT for long.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports there have been internal discussions that the former TNA World Champion might be in line for a main roster call-up within the new year, with SmackDown his likely destination.

Reportedly, USA Network, which broadcasts SmackDown in the US, is keen on securing Hendry for the blue brand.

The 37-year-old doesn’t need much more seasoning in NXT and is in his prime right now. WWE would be foolish to waste time and his clear connection with the fans for a moment longer.

Hendry opened the latest episode of SmackDown last Friday – a pre-taped edition for the holidays – as he sung an entertaining trash-talking song to The Miz before beating the two-time Grand Slam champion in a Mircale on 34th Street Fight.

Randy Orton gave Hendry his seal of approval at WrestleMania 41

Lest we forget, Hendry also performed at WrestleMania this past year, emerging as the surprising opponent for Randy Orton.

He also made an appearanfe in the Royal Rumble so fans are certainly familair with the Brit and WWE are ready to pull the trigger.

Say his name, and he appears.
