AEW Wrestler Ortiz Opens Up About Contract Status, New Coaching Role, and Future Goals

Ortiz, a talented wrestler with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) since 2019, has been relatively less visible on television lately. In a recent interview on the Wombreezy podcast, Ortiz shared his current contract status, a new backstage role, and his aspirations for the future. As a wrestler with a passion for tag team wrestling, Ortiz is eager to make a lasting impact in the AEW universe.

Contract Status and Future Plans

When asked about his remaining time with AEW, Ortiz provided a candid response. “As of right now, I have about a year left with the company. Give or take,” he stated. This transparency offers a glimpse into Ortiz’s current situation, and his desire to stay with AEW is evident. “I mean, I would love to stay there. I love working at AEW,” he expressed, highlighting his affection for the company and his role within it.

New Coaching Role and Personal Growth

Ortiz has taken on a new backstage responsibility, which involves coaching and producing. This role not only allows him to contribute to the development of other wrestlers but also enhances his own skills. “I’ve actually been coaching, doing, producing, basically,” he shared. “And it’s also selfishly making me a better wrestler, because now I’m helping people call matches, and I’m analyzing it from a different lens.” This experience has been beneficial for Ortiz, as it provides him with a unique perspective and opportunities for growth.

Goals and Aspirations

Ortiz’s primary objective is to re-establish himself with the AEW audience and change their perception of him as a wrestler. “Change the perception that I have in AEW, is my biggest short-term goal once I get the opportunity to get back on television and wrestle,” he said. He aims to be taken seriously as a wrestler, rather than being viewed as just a “thug.” This desire for recognition and respect is a driving force behind his efforts to succeed in the AEW universe.

Pursuing Championship Gold

Ortiz still has his sights set on winning championship gold, with a particular interest in tag team gold. “Um, definitely win gold, some sort of gold,” he said. “I would love for it to be tag team gold. Again, I love tag team wrestling. Hopefully, it’ll be with Eddie, or whoever it is.” This ambition demonstrates Ortiz’s commitment to his craft and his desire to achieve excellence in the world of professional wrestling.
